Collins Aerospace is looking to hire Machine Shop Technician - Lathe; reporting to the Machine Shop Supervisor on the Afternoon Shift, as the Machine Shop Technician –Lathe, you will be working with complex AHT parts to produce aircraft parts to drawing while operating machines in the cell.

Work Location:
Oakville Facility, Ontario – Canada

Shift Hours – Afternoons shift – Monday - Thursday (4:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m.)

What You Will Do

  • Perform own manual set-ups by positioning and aligning tooling per set-up instructions using CNC programming language (G codes).

  • Maintain tolerances by observing operation and making necessary machine offset adjustments, cutter changes and self-inspection (OSV-Operator Self Verification).

  • Document actions in support of quality logs, communicate all discrepancies in machining to supervision and create Product Defect Sheets (PDS) as required.

  • Perform work from set-up sheets, manufacturing sheets and drawings.

  • Support and promote continuous improvement, 5S activities and Standard Work Development in the cell.

  • Multi-task and operate other machines within the cell.

  • Can fully achieve the responsibilities of the position within a training time of 4-6 weeks.

  • Qualifications We Require

  • Typically requires High school diploma with a minimum 3 to 5 years of current lathe machining experience.

  • Experience utilizing measuring equipment in support of quality requirements

  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints.

  • The selected candidate has to be eligible to work in Canada; successful candidate must meet all requirements under ITAR and CCGP

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate of Qualification (C of Q)

  • Demonstrated ability to operate and use an overhead crane in a safe manner

  • Verbal and written communication skills (English)
