Clinical Resource Nurse - Emergency

Overview

Providing clinical leadership in the care of patients and families in the Emergency Department across the life spectrum, you will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to meet optimal patient and departmental needs.

• Provide clinical leadership and support to the Emergency Department team, ensuring a patient and family-centered environment, patient safety and evidence‑based practice.
• Coordinate day‑to‑day clinical operations, including oversight of equipment, supplies and nursing resources based on patient acuity and staff skills.
• Monitor workload throughout the shift, seeking and providing learning opportunities for nursing staff.
• Perform direct patient care activities as required.
• Attend the Halton Healthcare Clinical Resources Nurse Forum, weekly ED Operations meetings, and other committees as appropriate.
• Identify areas for improvement and participate in the development and monitoring of quality indicators.
• Participate in recruitment and retention of staff, including interviewing and coaching in collaboration with the Patient Care Manager.
• Participate in various projects and initiatives as they arise.
• Assist in all areas of the department including response to codes.
• Lead and participate in workshops, training, and meetings outside routinely scheduled work hours.

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred or in progress.
• Current BCLS, ACLS and CTAS certifications required.
• Minimum of 5 years clinical experience in Emergency Nursing with at least 1 year of recent charge experience (within last two years).
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development, including formal post‑RN and graduate‑level education.
• Member of the ED Pandemic Leadership Team (PLT) preferred.
• Participation in ED Charge Nurse Workshops within the last two years required.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Strong problem‑solving, conflict resolution, mentoring, patient flow, and ED P4R metrics experience.
• Ability to perform in all areas of department including response to codes.
• Demonstrated commitment to clinical excellence with solid clinical skills.
• Demonstrated ability to direct, support, advise and lead others.
• Ability to respond positively to stress, manage change, demonstrate conflict management and prevention.
• Strong analytical, critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills.
• Fiscal responsibility with commitment to quality improvement, risk mitigation, quality indicators and incident report follow‑up.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet physical demands of the position.
• Satisfactory employment and attendance record required.

• Hours:
  
  Monday to Sunday; 12‑hour day shifts (hours are subject to change based on operational needs).
• Salary: $45.56 to $63.35 per hour.
