Engaging Recreation Aide

Position: Engaging Recreation Aide at Extendicare
Become a vital part of Extendicare as a Recreation Aide, where you’ll implement engaging programs for seniors in a full-time capacity. Focus on improving residents’ social activity through dynamic programming.

This role will have you working under the Recreation Manager to assess, plan, and implement recreational activities that cater to each resident's preferences. You will engage in record keeping, make sure clear communication is maintained with all parties, and facilitate thoughtful outings. Your involvement in training keeps you informed on best practices in elder care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, implement, and evaluate resident-centered programs

• Maintain detailed records of participation and assessments

• Communicate actively with staff, volunteers, and families

• Coordinate scheduled outings for residents’ enjoyment

• Assist in meal services as necessary

Requirements:

• College degree in Recreation, Leisure Studies, or related field

• Experience with senior care settings

• Software proficiency in Microsoft Office

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities

• Up-to-date Vulnerable Sector Screening necessary
