Elite Strength Training

The Quarry is a new high-performance strength and conditioning centre launching in April 2026 as part of the Toronto Rock Lacrosse organization and located inside the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville
.

Purpose-built for serious athletes and driven adults, The Quarry delivers small-group and private strength training in a professional-sport environment—fully integrated with the club’s performance ecosystem, including the Toronto Rock Sports Medicine Centre—to support long-term development, resilience, and elite preparation.

Role Overview

The Quarry is seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Strength & Conditioning Coach to join our team. The Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at The Quarry is the standard-bearer for training quality, athlete development, and coaching culture within the adult and youth small-group strength programs. The ideal candidate is passionate about empowering clients and athletes, with a demonstrated history of excellence in speed and agility coaching, athletic development, and strength training.

This role is responsible for delivering exceptional coaching, overseeing program design and execution, mentoring other trainers, and ensuring every athlete training at The Quarry receives structured, safe, and performance-driven instruction.

The ideal candidate is a highly competent strength coach who values technique, progression, accountability, and long-term athlete development — and can lead from the floor.

Key Responsibilities:

Coaching & Program Delivery

  • Lead adult and youth athlete small-group strength training sessions and private training sessions
  • Deliver individualized programming within a structured group environment and private sessions
  • Coach proper lifting mechanics, movement quality, and athletic development
  • Scale training appropriately based on age, experience, injury history, and goals
  • Maintain a high standard of professionalism, safety, and engagement on the training floor

Program Design & Oversight

  • Develop and oversee progressive strength and performance programs for:
  • Youth athletes (ages 12+)
  • Adult strength and performance participants
  • Ensure programs align with The Quarry philosophy: foundations → strength → power → resilience
  • Monitor athlete progress and adjust programming as needed
  • Coordinate with rehab and performance staff when athletes are returning from injury

Leadership & Staff Development

  • Mentor and support assistant trainers and part-time coaches
  • Set expectations for coaching quality, athlete communication, and class execution
  • Lead by example through punctuality, preparation, and presence on the floor
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new coaching staff

Athlete Experience & Culture

  • Create a focused, disciplined, and inclusive training environment
  • Build strong coach–athlete relationships grounded in trust and accountability
  • Support athlete retention through consistent communication and coaching excellence
  • Work closely with TRAC Athletics and Toronto Rock Sports Medicine Centre teams
  • Support athlete transitions from rehab to performance training
  • Contribute to testing, assessment, and performance tracking where applicable
  • Assist with special events, testing days, and athlete education initiatives

Qualifications &

Experience:

Required

  • Post-secondary education in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field
  • Recognized strength & conditioning certification (e.g., CSCS, CSEP-CEP, NSCA, ISSA or equivalent)
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience coaching athletes in a structured environment
  • Proven experience working with youth athletes and adult populations
  • Strong understanding of long-term athlete development principles
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

Preferred

  • Experience working with collegiate, semi-professional, or professional athletes
  • Background in team sport performance (lacrosse, hockey, soccer, football, etc.)
  • Experience collaborating with physiotherapists or sports medicine teams
  • Comfort leading both group sessions and one‑on‑one training
