Strength & Conditioning Coach – The Quarry Elite Strength Training

Location: Toronto Rock Athletic Centre (Oakville, ON)

Reports to: Head Strength & Conditioning Coach, The Quarry

Position Type: Part-time (afternoons, evenings, some weekends)

Role Overview

Coaches at The Quarry deliver high-quality strength and conditioning coaching to both adult members and youth athletes through:

  • structured small-group performance classes, and
  • one-on-one private training sessions.

Trainers operate within The Quarry’s established performance system and programming architecture designed by the Director, Performance & Training, and executed and progressed by the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach.

Key Responsibilities Small-Group Strength & Conditioning Classes
  • Coach adult and youth athlete small-group strength and conditioning sessions
  • Deliver programs as designed and scheduled by the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach
  • Coach proper lifting technique, movement quality, and training standards
  • Provide appropriate scaling and progressions based on training age, ability, and readiness
  • Maintain a safe, focused and performance-driven training environment
  • Reinforce The Quarry’s coaching language, class structure and floor standards
Youth Athlete Coaching
  • Deliver age-appropriate and developmentally sound training
  • Emphasize movement quality, coordination, strength foundations and confidence
  • Maintain professional communication with parents when required
  • Uphold safety, safeguarding and positive coaching practices at all times
One-on-One Personal Training
  • Deliver individualized private training sessions for adult clients and youth athletes
  • Conduct basic movement screens and training needs assessments as directed
  • Apply The Quarry’s training frameworks to individual goals and constraints
  • Monitor progress and communicate relevant updates to the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach
  • Support athlete confidence, consistency and long-term progression
Athlete Experience & Culture
  • Build respectful, professional relationships with members and athletes
  • Contribute to a disciplined, inclusive and high-standard training environment
  • Model professionalism, punctuality and preparation
  • Represent The Quarry brand and performance culture on and off the floor
Program & Team Collaboration
  • Follow training programs, class plans and progressions established by the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach
  • Provide feedback to the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach regarding athlete readiness, issues or progress
  • Participate in team meetings, training and professional development sessions
  • Support testing days, camps, special events and athlete education initiatives
Facility & Floor Standards
  • Assist with equipment set-up and class flow
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization and safety of training spaces
  • Report equipment issues and facility concerns promptly
Qualifications & Experience Required
  • Post-secondary education in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or a related field
  • Recognized or in-progress strength & conditioning or personal training certification (ISSA, CSCS, NSCA-CPT, CSEP, Can Fit Pro , or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated understanding of foundational strength training and movement principles
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred
  • Experience coaching small-group strength classes
  • Experience working with youth athletes
  • Background in competitive sport
  • CPR / First Aid certification
  • Interest in long-term development in a performance coaching environment
