An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Oban Community Maternity Service for an enthusiastic, flexible and motivated integrated midwife (rural) who wishes to utilise the full range of midwifery skills, practising in an integrated midwifery model within the beautiful rural Argyll region. Oban and the surrounding area offers many opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts, including hiking, mountain biking, wild swimming and kayaking.
The successful candidate must be capable of working autonomously within a supportive team, providing continuity of care to families in Oban, Lorn & Islands. Based in Oban, the candidate will be expected to travel to other maternity units within Argyll & Bute to cover when necessary and, at times, to cover home births within the Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP). The named midwife will manage a caseload providing a full range of care, with an on‑call commitment overnight for Out of Hours care.
Efficient travel between various work locations is required.
A current UK driving licence is essential, and the candidate must use their own car to commute. A pool car will be provided for community visits and the overnight on‑call service.
Oban Maternity Service is proactive in supporting local birth, whether at home or within the stand‑alone community maternity unit. All mothers and babies will be offered a family‑centred, safe and compassionate approach to care, recognising their unique circumstances (Best Start).
Relocation package may be offered.
