Deputy Charge Nurse

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team as a Band 6 Nurse. This is an exciting opportunity for a compassionate leader who is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while supporting the development of junior staff and contributing to service improvement.

As a Band 6 Nurse, you will be responsible for coordinating clinical activities, managing patient care, and acting as a role model for evidence-based nursing practice. You will work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective and compassionate care is delivered at all times.

• Lead and coordinate the clinical team during each shift.
• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised patient care.
• Provide clinical leadership, supervision and support to Band 5 nurses, healthcare support workers and students.
• Promote patient safety and ensure compliance with professional standards and Trust policies.
• Participate in quality improvement projects, audits and service development.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team.
• Deputise for the Senior Charge Nurse when required.

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Significant post-registration clinical experience. Minimum 4 years.
• Demonstrable leadership and team management skills.
• Experience and knowledge in caring for Level 2 critical care patients. Experience in the use of non-invasive ventilation, knowledge of coronary care & acute medicine.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritise workload and make sound clinical decisions.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.
• Knowledge of clinical governance, safeguarding and quality improvement.
• ALS qualification or commitment to complete course.
