CHEM Teaching Assistant, Chemistry & Biochemistry

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications for Teaching Assistants (TAs) for the Spring 2027 semester. There are openings for assisting CHEM 205 lab sections. Applicants must be pursuing an interest in the sciences in order to be considered (pursuing a major in chemistry or biochemistry is preferred, but not required).

5-7 hour/week commitment.

• Prior knowledge and reasonable mastery of CHEM 205 material;
• Availability to attend TA meetings taking place once weekly;
• Grading laboratory assignments in a timely manner;
• Assisting students in lab with relevant techniques and processes.
• With the agreement of TAs and instructors, additional paid hours may be available for tutoring sessions outside of lab periods, to assist students with preparation of lab reports, other lab assignments, and review of lab-related concepts.

You must be an enrolled student at Oberlin College & Conservatory to qualify. In order to be considered, applicants must have earned a passing grade in CHEM 205.

$13.00-$13.75 depending on prior TA work experience in the department.
