These positions are open to Oberlin College students currently studying on campus. Preference will be given to students able to work both fall 2025 and spring 2026.
As a Food Justice Assistant, you will work with the food programs team at Oberlin Community Services (OCS) to build access to healthy food for residents of southern Lorain County. Responsibilities include working on OCS's Farm Food Rescue gleaning program, maintaining sustainable food system projects, and assisting with OCS food distributions.
Base Pay Range$14.00/hr – $14.00/hr for up to 10 hours per week per assistant during the fall 2025 and spring 2026 semesters.
Responsibilities- Outreach to local farmers and harvest and pick up donated produce.
- Transport and clean/packaged produce for distribution.
- Outreach and education in the community.
- Assist with weekly food distributions and pantry management.
- Create written and visual communications content.
- Collaborate with Food Programs staff to expand Food Rescue initiatives.
- Learn about non‑profit management, casework, volunteer coordination, donor relations, and more.
- Commitment to social justice and working with low‑income individuals.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; able to pass Oberlin MVR Background Check.
- Commit to approximately 10 hours per week (flexible schedule).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Comfortable with physical labor; able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Proficiency or fluency in Spanish preferred.
