Position: Laborer (Sewer)

JOB SUMMARY

The position requires an individual to safely and effectively utilize equipment for the cleaning and maintaining of catch basins, manholes, sanitary and storm sewers, and other duties as assigned. Position will require an individual to be versatile to work in other Public Works divisions as needed and the possibility of shift changes as mandated by the needs of the Department.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent

Must have an Ohio Commercial Driver's License (Class

B) and an excellent driving record

Prefer experience driving various types of larger vehicles including pickup and dump trucks

Position requires an individual in good physical condition to perform an extensive amount of heavy manual labor outdoors in all climatic conditions

Must be experienced with power tools such as an air compressor, cement mixer, power saw, air hammer, and electric power sewer snake

Must be knowledgeable in all phases of waste collection systems such as storm and sanitary sewer mains, residential and commercial sewer laterals and catch basins.

Knowledge in the operation of a lateral mini-camera for the televising of sewers is preferred.

Must be available for emergency calls through a pager system when not on regular duty (nights, weekends, and holidays) and be able to report to the Utility building within a 45-minute time period for emergency situations

Must be able to carry out verbal and written instructions and work well with others

Reliable attendance required
