Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented General Accounting Controller to oversee the company’s accounting operations, financial reporting, and payroll functions. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, in-depth accounting knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role plays a key part in supporting management through financial oversight, analysis, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities Accounting Functions- Oversee general ledger activities and ensure accurate financial records.
- Prepare and record payroll journal entries for the general ledger (GL).
- Perform monthly reconciliation of payroll-related accounts to the GL, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures and support internal and external audits.
- Maintain and enforce strong internal controls.
- Accurately collect, compile, and enter payroll data, including wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions (benefits, garnishments, taxes, 401K contributions, etc.).
- Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees using Paycom (HRIS system).
- Address payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws and labor regulations.
- Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and reports to applicable government agencies (e.g., IRS).
- Generate and prepare payroll reports for management and auditors, including quarterly and annual reports (W-2s).
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to support management decision-making.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including payroll oversight.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, payroll accounting, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with accounting software;
Paycom experience is a plus. - Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Advanced Excel proficiency and deep knowledge of standard costing.
- Proficiency in Quick Books.
- Knowledge of tax preparation and compliance required.
- This role offers potential for expanded responsibilities based on performance and initiative.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus but not required.
- Pay is $70,000+ Based off Experience.
