Retail Construction - New Store Superintendent (Ocala) – Rabine
OverviewThe Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the construction of retail construction projects—ensuring completion on time, within budget, and in alignment with company standards. This role requires extensive travel across the FL region, with frequent overnight stays.
Essential Functions- Coordinate all on-site construction activities, ensuring work aligns with plans, specifications, and schedules.
- Supervise subcontractors and trades, verifying that work is performed safely, on time, and to quality standards.
- Conduct daily site walks to monitor progress, address potential issues, and maintain jobsite cleanliness and organization.
- Enforce site safety protocols in accordance with OSHA and company policies.
- Update and maintain the construction schedule daily, identifying delays or bottlenecks early.
- Hold daily coordination meetings with foremen, subcontractors, and sometimes owners or project managers.
- Coordinate deliveries and inspections, ensuring materials and equipment arrive on schedule.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and architects to resolve field issues promptly.
- Inspect ongoing work for adherence to design specifications, building codes, and standards.
- Document daily progress with photos, logs, and reports.
- Address deficiencies immediately, coordinating with trades to correct issues before they can affect the project.
- Prepare a Daily Superintendent Report, summarizing weather, work completed, subcontractors on site, equipment used, inspections, and incidents.
- Submit reports to the Project Manager or corporate office at the end of each day.
- Maintain as-built drawings and redlines to record field changes.
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for the client, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
- Facilitate collaboration between all project participants to ensure smooth workflow.
- Lead by example to promote safety, productivity, and accountability on site.
- Conduct daily safety briefings or toolbox talks.
- Ensure all workers are properly trained and equipped with PPE.
- Investigate incidents or near misses and report them immediately.
- Maintain compliance with all local and federal safety regulations.
- Review timesheets, delivery tickets, and change orders.
- Track manpower and equipment usage.
- Assist with RFIs (Requests for Information) and ensure timely responses.
- Oversee temporary utilities, permits, and inspections.
- Minimum 8‑10 + years of experience managing retail or large‑format (big box) construction projects including Developer Site Work.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Skilled in web‑based project management systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
- Ability to operate tablets for live data collection in the field.

Work EnvironmentThis position involves working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow. Travel to onsite work locations is required, both within Florida and occasionally out of state. Reliable transportation and flexibility with travel schedules are essential. All necessary safety equipment and training will be provided to ensure a secure and productive work environment.
Physical Demands- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long durations (up to 8 hours a day).
- Regularly climb ladders and stairs, including vertical access to rooftops.
- Bend, kneel, crawl, and access tight spaces as needed.
- Lift or move objects up to 40 pounds.
- Use hands for handling, reaching, and operating field equipment.
- Visual requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
