Placement & Transition Specialist
The Florida Department of Corrections is seeking a Placement & Transition Specialist to work at Lowell Correctional Institution in the Education department. This career service position is not a telework position and requires reporting daily to the FDC office in the area it serves.
Job Duties- Lead engaging education orientation programs for new arrivals, administer and score achievement and placement tests, and oversee GED testing administration.
- Maintain up-to-date educational records, test scores, and progress reports for inmates, ensuring accuracy and compliance with computerized systems.
- Collaborate in the development of personalized education and transition plans to support inmate success.
- Conduct impactful interviews and counseling sessions with inmates to address their educational, transitional, and personal needs.
- Celebrate and recognize inmate achievements, fostering a positive and motivating learning environment.

- Non‑certified applicants must obtain a temporary State of Florida Educator’s Certificate within 12 months of hire and a professional certificate before the temporary certificate expires.
- Official transcripts will be required if a college/university degree is submitted.
The Florida Department of Corrections requires a Level 2 background check before employment. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or authorized to work in the U.S. All employees are subject to reasonable suspicion drug testing in accordance with Florida law.
