Infection Preventionist Nurse / Staff EducatorJob Summary
The Infection Preventionist Nurse / Staff Educator is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining infection prevention protocols while planning and delivering educational programs to ensure staff competencies meet regulatory requirements and residents’ needs.
Infection Preventionist Nurse & Staff Educator Major Duties and Critical Tasks- Develops, implements, and oversees infection prevention and control programs.
- Conducts facility assessments to identify educational needs and prioritize training topics.
- Plans, schedules, and leads orientation for new hires and refresher training for existing staff.
- Collaborates with department leaders to develop and evaluate staff competencies.
- Maintains all training records, instructional materials, and compliance documentation.
- Ensures educational content aligns with current standards of practice and facility policies.
- Provides opportunities for staff to earn continuing education credits and maintain licensure.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of training programs and revises them as necessary.
Education and Experience
- Graduate of an accredited RN program or nursing degree from a recognized institution.
- A minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in long-term care.
- Extensive knowledge of infection prevention practices, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Must hold a valid, unencumbered nursing license and meet state certification requirements.
- Ability to teach, mentor, and engage staff effectively.
