Elementary Teacher Assistant

Montessori Preparatory School in Ocala is hiring a full-time Elementary Teacher Assistant to support our elementary lead teachers (roughly grades 1-5). We are a growing Montessori school serving children from infancy through middle school, and we believe children learn best in a calm, carefully prepared environment where they are respected and encouraged to explore. Pay: $16.50 per hour

Hours:

Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Start Date:

As soon as possible Montessori experience is not required. We offer the opportunity for Montessori training. Montessori Preparatory School is an equal opportunity employer.

• Support elementary lead teachers in daily classroom instruction and routines
• Work with individual students and small groups on reading and math practice
• Help keep the classroom positive and orderly through consistent, respectful classroom management
• Prepare, organize, and restore Montessori materials
• Supervise students during lunch, recess, and dismissal
• Observe students and share progress notes with the lead teacher
• Encourage independence, responsibility, and respect
• Take part in staff meetings, school events, and professional development

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Experience working with children preferred (classroom, tutoring, childcare, camp, or similar)
• Florida DCF 40-hour introductory childcare training completed, or willingness to complete it
• Must pass a Level 2 background screening, as required for Florida schools
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Warm, patient, and professional with children and families
• Dependable, organized, and eager to keep learning
