About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Lead Estimator to manage the full bidding and pre-construction process for mechanical projects. This individual will lead estimating efforts from concept to closeout—performing take-offs, analyzing costs, developing competitive proposals, and guiding a team of estimators.
This is a key leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands the mechanical construction process, and enjoys the challenge of winning work through precision and strategy.
What You’ll Do- Lead the estimating process for HVAC, plumbing, and process piping projects from start to finish.
- Perform and review detailed quantity take-offs for materials, labor, and equipment.
- Analyze subcontractor and vendor proposals for accuracy and scope alignment.
- Develop comprehensive cost estimates and bid proposals in coordination with project teams.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving solutions.
- Mentor junior estimators and manage team workflows to ensure quality and consistency.
- Prepare budgets, cash flow projections, and assist with preconstruction planning.
- Several years of experience in mechanical construction estimating (HVAC, plumbing, or process piping).
- Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Proficiency with estimating software such as Accubid, Plan Swift, or Trimble.
- Experience collaborating with general contractors, engineers, and project managers.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
- Leadership mindset and desire to mentor others.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
