work you will do:

inspector ii - district five / ocala maintenance

this position will review and inspect activities being performed in the state’s right of way to verify that work is conducted according to all state and federal specifications, plans, permits, policies, procedures, statutes and rules. Ensure all temporary traffic control safety device usage, installation/placement and materials conform with regulations. Prepare records and reports for work completed; gather data for maintenance contract needs;

perform plans reviews; provide comments on department policies and procedures as requested. Engage throughout the life of a project, as a representative of the department, with contractors, utility owners, and permit tees, on all issues related to contracts and permits.

your specific responsibilities:

perform independent complex technical assignments to accomplish inspection and monitoring of work activities performed within the state right of way. Verifies that work is performed according to all state and federal specifications, plans, permits, policies, procedures, statutes and rules. Performs approved testing techniques through the use of hand tools, gauges and/or instruments to ensure materials used conform to florida department of transportation (fdot) requirements.

perform interpretation of governing documents related to authorized temporary traffic control (maintenance of traffic) device usage, installation/placement and materials to ensure safe work zones. Reviews work site activities for conformity to safety regulations and takes corrective measures when deficiencies are noted.

prepares records and reports for work completed and other related documents accurately and in a timely manner. Prepares all documentation in order to validate payments to roadway contractors.
