E-ONE manufactures custom and commercial fire trucks including pumpers and tankers, aerial ladders and platforms, rescues of all sizes, quick attack units, industrial trucks, and ARFF (aircraft rescue firefighting vehicles). Established in 1974, E-ONE has grown to become an industry leader and now employs more than 1,000 people who manufacture over 400 fire trucks per year. REV Group is the parent company of E-ONE and a leading manufacturer of specialty vehicles for the fire & emergency and recreation markets.
Job summary:
The Production Supervisor is primarily responsible for overseeing and leading a team of direct labor associates in the manufacture and assembly of products, components and parts for custom fire and rescue vehicles. The Supervisor is accountable for meeting production schedules, cost targets and quality standards. This role emphasizes highly skilled processes, complex assemblies and testing, and requires a high level of technical skill to assist operators in troubleshooting.
The Supervisor leads safety, quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Daily assignments of hourly production personnel to meet schedule commitments and cycle time requirements; prioritize and manage the customer workflow within the department to ensure timely task completion in accordance with the customer schedule.
- Ensure all quality, regulatory and ISO requirements are met; take appropriate actions to meet requirements, including stopping production if necessary.
- Review all department work to assure technical accuracy, meeting customer requirements, engineering design expectations as documented in shop orders, engineering prints, bills of material, work instructions and quality documentation; ensure workmanship standards are met.
- Oversee safety and environmental compliance of the department; hold employees accountable for following OSHA and company policies; actively participate in safety improvement activities.
- Maintain accurate and timely attendance records for department employees.
- Enforce company policies and procedures; ensure consistent employee relations; recognize rewards as appropriate; initiate disciplinary actions as required.
- Provide technical expertise for problem resolution and liaison with Materials, Engineering, Sales Administration, Product Management to determine root cause and corrective actions.
- Provide input on staffing requirements and selection of departmental personnel; assist in developing area budget goals for personnel, equipment, supplies, etc.
- Oversee training and development of all departmental personnel; define job function requirements, training plans, and maintain qualification and training skill matrix; evaluate employees for skill and other requirements.
- Lead continuous improvement activities; implement Lean foundations (Waste Identification, 5S, Standard Work, Visual Management); participate in Kaizen Events and value stream map creation and goal setting for department product lines.
- High School Diploma;
Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred. - Minimum 5 years of related work experience, with 2 years in supervisory or leadership capacity.
- Practical experience including electrical, mechanical, welding, metal fabrication, etc.
- Experience in vehicle production or custom manufacturing environment.
- Detailed knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Strong understanding and application of lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with demonstrated team building and conflict resolution ability. Excellent employee and human relations skills.
- Excellent computer skills; ability to learn and use company systems. Knowledge and experience with regulatory requirements such as NFPA, FAA, OSHA required training, and annual RCRA and triennial DOT requirements.
- Lift/Push/Pull - Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
