Job Summary

Center Nurse Manager is responsible for the delivery of high‑quality patient care by organizing, directing and planning the clinical operations of the clinical support staff within the Heart of Florida Health Centers. They ensure staff adherence to organizational policies and procedures and competence in the performance of clinical skills, oversee supply, medication and vaccine inventory management and ensure all medical and clinical equipment is calibrated and operational.

The manager creates a cohesive team that mentors, supports and communicates openly, holds each other accountable and collaborates across departments. The Center Nurse Manager reports to and assists the Chief Nursing Officer with day‑to‑day clinical management.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Current RN licensure with at least 2 years of nursing leadership experience
  • At least 2 years of bedside nursing in a primary care or hospital setting
  • Proficiency in procedures such as phlebotomy, EKGs, urgent‑care handling, patient exam preparation, specimen preparation for lab, injection administration and other drugs per providers orders
  • Experience with patient‑care instruction and telephone triage
  • Visionary leadership with supervisory experience, mature judgment, strong interprofessional communication and computer skills
  • Ability to delegate, create a climate of teamwork and ensure accountability among supervised staff
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Excellent internal and external customer service skills
  • Understanding of certification standards, guidelines and protocols from outside agencies
  • Commitment to Heart of Florida Health Center and its mission statement
  • Bilingual patient care is a plus
Essential Functions
  • Perform all essential functions of an RN in alignment with the Florida Board of Nursing
  • Identify patient service requirements by establishing rapport with patients and others to understand service needs
  • Maintain nursing guidelines by writing, updating policies and communicating changes to the team
  • Coordinate nursing operations, enforce program, operational and personnel policies
  • Ensure quality of care by developing and interpreting philosophy and standards of care, enforcing adherence to state board and applicable regulations, measuring outcomes and recommending adjustments
  • Recruit, retain, select, orient and train clinical support staff
  • Coach, counsel and discipline clinical support staff as needed
  • Plan, monitor and appraise job results while completing skills validations for medical assistants, licensed practical nurses, phlebotomists and clinical team leads
  • Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients, staff and families
  • Guarantee basic skill competence of clinical support staff in accordance with licensure and certification
  • Ensure telephone triage, fax inbox monitoring and employee attendance are executed per policy
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational teams to reschedule appointments when needed
  • Ensure accurate communication of medication, referrals, patient information and scheduling between provider and patient
  • Evaluate patient flow and practice efficiency and recommend adjustments; coordinate with Center Managers and Clinical Team Lead
  • Develop and interpret infection‑control policies and protocols, enforce medication administration regulations and vaccine storage procedures
  • Monitor confidential information processing and adhere to HIPAA regulations
  • Audit patient records for documentation of care
  • Achieve financial objectives annually and initiate corrective actions
  • Maintain collaborative relationships among clinical leadership, communicate information, respond to requests and participate in problem‑solving methods
  • Assist center staff in preparation for biannual audits
  • Oversee ordering of supplies, lab quality assurance, regulatory permits, vaccination logs, AED logs and oxygen logs
  • Participate in and lead staff meetings, in‑services and management activities organization‑wide
