The University of Florida Pet Emergency Treatment Services (UF PETS) seeks a self‑motivated and compassionate part‑time veterinary technician to join our team.

A successful applicant will desire a flexible part‑time schedule, enjoy learning, adapt quickly to a changing environment, and possess a solid foundation in veterinary medicine, excellent nursing skills, and a passion for supporting teaching staff and students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinary staff with emergency and critical care procedures.
  • Provide nursing care for animal patients in a fast‑paced, teaching‑driven environment.
  • Maintain a safe, organized work area, especially during stressful situations.
  • Communicate effectively with employees of all levels.
Job Details

Compensation: $20.00–$32.00 per hour, competitive salary based on credentials and experience. Shift differential pay may raise earnings up to $41.60 per hour.

This essential‑personnel position requires a post‑offer health assessment.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of relevant experience for Technician I.
  • Credentialed veterinary technician for Technician II.
  • Graduation from an accredited veterinary technology program and/or certification as a veterinary technician.
  • Strong knowledge of animal care and nursing, especially critical care.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and related vocabulary.
  • Understanding of equipment, materials, and their applications.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations involving money.
  • Capacity to maintain working environment under stress.
  • Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification as a veterinary technician.
  • Experience in a teaching or educational setting.
