Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic
RATP Dev maintains a fleet of buses, which includes 35-ft. Cummins
ISL engines, Alison B4000, Ford E450, 25-ft Cutaways, Triton V-10 gasoline engine. Under general supervision, the prospective candidate will strictly follow the maintenance manager’s directives and performs a variety ofjourney-level diesel mechanic and related mass transit vehicle maintenance/repair works, inspections, maintenance and electrical repairs,ranging from minor to major. The new hire will be placed in “A,” or “B,” classification based on experience and aptitude. “B” mechanics, under supervision and training will have opportunities for advancement to “A” mechanic.
The maintenance manager sets the work schedule for this position.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements- Two (2) years journey-level dieselor heavy equipment maintenance/repair experience
- Two (2) years automotive maintenance/repair experience
- Two (2) years heavy duty transit busrepair maintenance/repair
Ability to obtain a Florida Class BCommercial Driver's License with Air Brake and Passenger Transport Endorsement within 90 days of employment
- Necessary Requirements:
- Willingness to follow chain-of-command
- Availability to work varying shifts/operation as assigned by the manager (days, afternoons,nights, weekends, and holidays).
- Ability to report to multiple work locations as needed. These include the Sun Tran Maintenance Facility, the Downtown Station, and other Sun Tran service areas.
