This full‑time position requires out‑of‑town travel with overnight stays at various substations across Florida. A per diem is provided while traveling. The schedule may include nights, weekends, and extended hours depending on project needs.

As a Utility Construction Substation Technician you will work alongside experienced substation crews and wiremen to construct, repair, and maintain electrical substations throughout Florida. You will prioritize safety, assist with setting poles, installing transformers, steel structures, insulators, and protective devices, and operate vehicles, tools, and heavy equipment with care. Every task contributes to strengthening Florida's power infrastructure and helping communities stay reliably connected.

• 3+ years of related experience (preferred, but not required for entry‑level)
• Basic knowledge of electricity and safe work practices around electrical systems
• Ability to follow safety protocols and perform in a physically demanding environment
• Strong hand‑eye coordination, depth perception, and color distinction
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to work safely around crane and rigging activities
• Ability to frequently stand, walk, climb, and lift up to 80 pounds, work at heights, in confined spaces, and around moving equipment

• 5+ years of utility substation or construction experience
• OSHA 10 certification and a CDL
• Familiarity with fall protection systems
• Ability to work from aerial lifts and heights
• Prior knowledge of constructing vertical break and center break switches from 13 kV to 500 kV, as well as steel erection, framework, and reinforcing steel installation
