Position SummaryThis is skilled mechanical work in the operation, maintenance and repair of refrigeration and laundry equipment. An employee in this position performs skilled work which involves installing and repairing refrigeration equipment according to blueprints and schematic drawings, assembling structural and functional components, and purchasing the necessary supplies and materials for the installation, maintenance and repair of the equipment. Work is performed under the direction of the assigned administrator, and subject to inspection during and upon completion.
PositionQualifications
- Education: Graduation from a standard high school or equivalency diploma.
- Experience: Three (3) years verifiable work experience in the operation and maintenance of assigned area.
- Computer
Skills:
Basic understanding and knowledge of use of current technology, as required for the position. - Certificates and/or Licenses: Valid Florida Class D driver's license or will obtain within thirty (30) work days. Must be certified by the E.P.A. for handling of CFC’S.
- Other Requirements: May be required to work on scaffolds, stepladders, and high extension ladders. Complete set of job related hand tools required.
- Working Conditions: Indoors/Outdoors – the worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
- Noise: The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.

- Inspect and maintain all refrigeration equipment.
- Install new refrigeration units.
- Purchase material and parts necessary to repair equipment.
- Recharge refrigeration systems with refrigerants as necessary.
- Overhaul compressors, condensers and other equipment as needed.
- May provide guidance to co-workers in proper procedures and safety.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Assessable to handle emergencies after normal work hours.
- Work with food service managers assessing upgrades and replacement of equipment.

- L-Light Work – Required to push, pull or lift up to 40+ pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
