This is skilled mechanical work in the operation, maintenance and repair of air-conditioning equipment. An employee in a position allocated to this class performs skilled work which involves installing and repairing air-conditioning equipment according to blueprints and schematic drawings assembling structural and functional components; purchasing the necessary supplies and materials for the installation, maintenance and repair of the equipment. Work is performed under the direction of the assigned administrator, and subject to inspection during and upon completion.
POSITIONQUALIFICATIONS
- Education – Graduation from a standard high school or equivalency diploma.
- Experience – Three (3) years verifiable work experience in the operation and maintenance of assigned area.
- Computer Skills – Basic understanding and knowledge of use of current technology, as required for the position.
Certificates and/or Licenses – Valid Florida Class D driver's license or will obtain within thirty (30) work days. Must be certified by the E.P.A. for handling of CFC’S. - Other Requirements – Complete set of job related hand tools required. May be required to work on scaffolds, stepladders, and high extension ladders.
- Indoors/Outdoors The worker is subject to both environmental conditions.
- Activities occur inside and outside.

- Inspect and maintain all air-conditioning equipment.
- Read blue-prints and schematic drawings to determine location, size, capacity and type of component needed to repair the unit.
- Install new air-conditioning units.
- Purchase material and parts necessary to repair equipment.
- Recharge air-conditioning systems with refrigerants as necessary.
- Overhaul compressors, condensers and other equipment as needed.
- May provide guidance to co-workers in proper procedures and safety.
- Perform related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: L-Light Work – Required to push, pull or lift up to 40+ pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
