The Statewide Guardian ad Litem Office is Florida’s state‑funded child advocacy organization that provides independent legal representation to abused, abandoned and neglected children in Florida’s dependency court proceedings.

- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team and partner agencies.
- Oversee Guardian ad Litem Office volunteers.
- Gather and document case information.
- Provide best‐interests advocacy recommendations to team, court, and partners.
- Prepare written reports and testify to court.
- Attend internal and external case‑related court hearings and related meetings.
- Visiting and contacting assigned children, parents, caregivers, schools and service providers.
- Utilize organization’s database and reporting systems.
- Participate in training, meetings and conferences.

- Knowledge of case management, social support services and child development.
- Knowledge of child abuse, domestic violence, substance abuse and mental health dynamics.
- Knowledge of Florida State Courts System and Florida statutes related to child welfare.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License.
- Bachelor’s degree in sociology, social work, psychology, child development, education, juvenile justice, communications, or related social science (preferred, but prior experience may be considered).
- Two years of experience in child welfare program or supervising volunteers (desirable but not required).
- Experience with critical decision making, planning, organizing, coaching, leading or supervising.
- All hires after Feb 1 2020 must obtain Child Advocate Manager Certification within 12 months of hire.
- Maintain Child Advocate Manager Certification throughout employment (agency pays costs).
