UMC is currently seeking a CNA for The Shores, our Senior Care Community located in Ocean City, NJ within picturesque Cape May County.
Ocean City was recently recognized by the HomeSnacks data website as "New Jersey's happiest town" based on lower cost of living, unemployment rates, and shorter commute times.
Responsibilities for a CNA:Certified Nursing Assistant
- Perform personal care activities for residents.
- Complete daily skin checks and report changes to nurse immediately.
- Participate in the dining experience (serving, clearing, cutting & feeding) based on residents' strengths.
- Share resident preferences with other staff using appropriate communication methods.
- Maintain continuity of care daily by timely documenting and communicating care tasks completed with each individual resident assigned in the point‑of‑care kiosk.
- Attend and actively participate in Interdisciplinary Team Care Plan meetings to identify residents' strength‑based approaches and skills for assigned residents.
- Assist residents with the use of adaptive equipment (e.g., walkers, wheelchairs, eyeglasses, dentures, hearing aids).
- Understand, use and follow restorative nursing principles and practices to assist a resident in maintaining an optimal level of function and maximizing their strengths.
- Read and understand the individualized summary plan for residents, and provide support according to their summary and care plan.
- Observe and identify residents' changing needs and conditions at first indication, and report immediately to nursing as appropriate.
- Take and record vital signs & weights as instructed by nurse; make rounds several times each shift to identify residents needing assistance.
- Perform treatment tasks under the supervision of the licensed nurse and therapist.
- Seek opportunities for personal growth: complete in‑services training programs, attend nursing staff meetings and mandatory assigned training.
Certified Nursing Assistant
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 6 months of experience in a long‑term care setting.
- Current and valid CNA certification in New Jersey.
