Position Overview
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice RN working in collaboration with physicians to deliver health care services to meet the specialized physiologic and psychological needs of patients with complex acute, critical, and chronic health conditions. The NP delivers health care services to a population within their scope of certification and education.

Requires successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master’s degree in Nursing.
LicenseMississippi State Licensure as Nurse Practitioner required.
Certification- Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, or Acute Geriatric Nurse Practitioner required.
- Must complete and maintain Basic Life Support (BCLS) upon hire and/or transfer.
If works in Psychiatric Services, must maintain current Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner certification through the ANCC.
If works in Surgical Services, must complete and maintain BCLS and ACLS certifications upon hire and/or transfer.
If works in Pediatrics, current specialty certification as required by department;
Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP) preferred. Must complete and maintain BCLS and PALS certifications upon hire and/or transfer.
If works in Wound Care, current specialty certification as required by department;
Must complete and maintain BCLS and ACLS certifications upon hire and/or transfer.
One (1) year of advanced nursing experience preferred. If works in Psychiatric Services, a minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care or psychiatric hospital required. Previous experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in an inpatient and outpatient setting preferred.
Physical DemandsWork is moderately active and requires movement around the facility and travel within the SRHS service area. May involve exposure to body fluids and repetitive motions. Vision and hearing requirements applicable to clinical duties; ability to work extended periods with variable schedules including weekends as needed.
Mental DemandsMust demonstrate sound judgment, strong communication skills, ability to work under pressure, and multi-task in complex situations. Maintain collaborative and respectful working relationships.
Special DemandsMust possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette. Proficient computer literacy (keyboard, MS Outlook, Word) and other office technology.
