Position OverviewThe Licensed Practical Nurse provides skilled technical nursing care to patients according to predefined standards and a plan of care established by a Nurse Practitioner or Physician. Assumes other duties as assigned. The Licensed Practical Nurse provides care utilizing the MS Nurse Practice Act, the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and Singing River Health System Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment and Services.
Expectation is for all performed duties to be in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees.
- Provide skilled technical nursing care to patients according to established standards and care plans.
- Work within the framework of the MS Nurse Practice Act, CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and SRHS Nursing Plan.
- Assume other duties as assigned and support patient care initiatives.
- Graduate of accredited School of Nursing program for Licensed Practical Nursing.
- Current State of Mississippi licensed as an LPN required; expanded role licensure preferred.
- Required to complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
- Must have de‑escalation training completed by the end of the orientation period (within 90 days); appropriate level of de‑escalation training.
- 6 months nursing experience preferred.

Assigned personnel.
Work is moderately active, involves sitting, standing, moving about the facility, with occasional travel to other facilities. Requires frequent lifting and handling of objects including the human body. Exposure to body fluids, sputum and tissues is possible. Requires use of computer and office equipment. Must maintain good vision and auditory acuity. Must handle high stress situations, communicate clearly, and operate under pressure.
Must maintain collaborative relationships within SRHS and external organizations.
- Superior customer service and professional etiquette.
- Proficient knowledge of computer and office technology (e.g., keyboard, telephone, fax, MS Outlook, Word).
- Ability to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment for patients of all ages.
