Power Hour is an academic support program designed to help members develop academic, behavioral, and social skills through homework completion, high-yield learning activities, and tutoring that encourages Club members of every age to become self-directed learners.
Project Requirements & Important Notes- Assist students with homework in math, English, science, or other subjects
- Lead learning-based games and enrichment activities
- Encourage positive study habits and model appropriate behavior
- Foster a supportive and welcoming learning environment
- Help track student progress and communicate with staff when needed
- Experience with subject matter (math, English, or science) for age being tutored
- Volunteers must be 16 years old or older.
- Experience teaching or tutoring, especially math, science and/or English. Spanish speaking.
3:30 - 5:30pm Monday through Thursdays for at least three months. Consistency is important to the kids you are teaching so committing to a schedule is highly encouraged.
Onboarding ProcessApplication, reference checks, background check, fingerprinting, online training and orientation.
AttireNo inappropriate words printed on clothing, jean and shorts okay, tight or revealing clothing is not allowed, clothes you are okay with getting dirty, closed toed shoes.
Physical RequirementsNo specific physical abilities are required to participate in this volunteer opportunity.
