The college is accepting applications to build a pool of counselors for possible future part‑time assignments at all locations. The department chairperson or designee will review applications as vacancies become available. Counselors may be assigned to any campus or authorized facility, including days, evenings, or weekends.
EligibilityResidency Requirement:
- Mira Costa College Board Policy 7800:
Employee Residency requires all associate faculty employees to maintain and permanently reside in a principal place of residence in the state of California that is within 200 road miles from the employee’s regularly assigned district worksite. - Associate faculty who have a fully online assignment must reside within California but may live beyond 200 miles from their designated worksite.
- The District may consider a request to temporarily reside outside California or outside the 200‑mile limit on a case‑by‑case basis, not to exceed twelve consecutive months.
- Under direction, provide counseling services to students with a wide variety of backgrounds and needs.
- Develop education plans with students to achieve their academic goals.
- Plan, organize and teach assigned counseling courses in accordance with approved course outlines, education code requirements and faculty contract provisions.
- Provide feedback and guidance to students and evaluate student performance.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
$76.32 to $89.28 per hour. Compensation is based on education.
Final date to receive applicationsApplications are valid through June 30, 2026, at which time they will expire. A new posting for this pool will be posted on July 1, 2026, and those still interested will need to reapply at that time.
