Type Of Assignment: Temporary Assignment

Position Details: Mira Costa College is accepting applications to build a pool of instructors for possible future part‑time assignments at all locations. The department chairperson or designee will review applications only if vacancies become available. Instructors may be assigned to any campus or authorized facility and may work days, evenings, or weekends. Applications are valid through June 30, 2024
; after this date they will expire. A new posting for this pool will be posted on July 1, 2024.

Residency Requirement: All associate‑faculty employees must maintain and permanently reside in a principal place of residence in California within 200 road miles of the employee’s regularly assigned district worksite. A fully online assignment requires residence in California but may be located beyond the 200‑mile limit. Temporary residence outside California or beyond 200 miles may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis for up to twelve consecutive months.

Compensation: $81.60 to $94.60 per hour, based on education. For the current associate (part‑time) faculty salary schedule, visit the jobs.miracosta.edu website and select “Salary Schedules” in the navigation bar. Employees must arrange direct deposit of paychecks.

  • Applicants lacking a California Community College (CCC) credential must submit a copy of a fully satisfied, lifetime CCC credential authorizing instruction/service in the appropriate discipline. All transcripts and units used to satisfy the minimum qualifications must come from accredited post‑secondary institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation.

    Foreign transcripts require evaluation from a recognized agency; sample agencies are listed at (cl-635).

    • Full COVID‑19 vaccination (or approved exemption).
    • Current TB test clearance.
    • Eligibility to work in the United States.
    • Fingerprint clearance.
    • Official transcripts or valid CCC credential.

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in the ethnic studies field, or related disciplines such as American Studies, Latino Studies, La Raza Studies, Central American Studies, Latin American Studies, Cross‑Cultural Studies, Race and Ethnic Relations, Asian‑American Studies, or African‑American Studies; or
  • Master’s in one or more constituent disciplines of the interdisciplinary area and upper‑division or graduate coursework in at least one other discipline; or
  • Equivalent qualifications. Attach an equivalency narrative if your degree major differs.
  • Fully satisfied, lifetime College Community College credential authorizing instruction/service in the appropriate subject matter.
  • Ability to understand and support diverse student backgrounds (academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic).

    Experience with online learning and interactive technologies; ability to incorporate digital resources; demonstrated success in diverse and inclusive teaching environments.
