Chief Engineer

Summary

Thompson Palm Springs is currently recruiting for an experienced Chief Engineer to join the hotel's Engineering team.

The Chief Engineer plays a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the physical infrastructure and systems. This position assists the Director of Engineering in overseeing the engineering and maintenance department, ensuring that the hotel's facilities are in optimal condition and that safety and environmental standards are met. Additional duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Assists in directing general construction and the installation, maintenance and repair of all electrical, mechanical and architectural systems throughout the facility to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
• Assigns, verifies and documents the completion of all routine maintenance and repairs in the property maintenance management system.
• Communicates with city/county/state officials to ensure the proper maintenance of permits and licenses, to coordinate required inspections and to ensure full compliance with codes, regulations and safety standards to protect the well‑being of all guests and team members.
• Assists in the execution of capital projects and property rehabilitations.
• Assists in interviews, trains, supervises, counsels, schedules and evaluates staff.
• Communicates effectively with guests and fellow team members.
• Ensures maintenance of tools and equipment in safe working condition.
• Maintains records of types and frequency of maintenance.
• Makes approved purchases of supplies, equipment and services.
• Maintains inventory.
• Conducts regular safety inspections of the property.

This is an exempt (salaried) role. The budgeted salary range for this position is $68,640 to $96,400. This is the pay range for this position that Thompson Palm Springs reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors including experience and education.

• A minimum of 4 years' building maintenance experience is required, with hotel experience preferred.
• Previous leadership experience in a similar role preferred.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Engineering/Facility Management degree preferred.
• Must have experience operating high‑pressure Steam Boilers, Chillers, HVAC systems.
• Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
