Clinical Nurse Manager - ICU

Overview

Tri-City Medical Center serves San Diego County’s coastal communities and surrounding region. The Clinical Manager holds twenty-four hour accountability for the delivery of quality nursing care and operational management of the assigned unit. This role integrates, facilitates, and coordinates leadership, management, operational, quality improvement coordination, and clinical activities of patient care services. The individual serves as a professional role model, leader, mentor, and clinical resource for nurses and other members of the health care team.

Supervises all department employees and adheres to the California Nurse Practice Act, ANA ethics, and related guidelines. Supports the mission and values of the Medical Center and cares for patients across appropriate age groups in the department.

• Maintain a safe, clean working environment with unit-based safety and infection control adherence.
• Coordinate leadership, management, operational, quality improvement, and clinical activities within the assigned department.
• Serve as a professional role model, leader, mentor, and clinical resource for staff.
• Maintain knowledge of local health care issues and community standards; participate in strategic planning and action implementation.
• Conduct performance assessments and evaluations of staff per hospital policies.
• Utilize appropriate TCMC staff disciplinary processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Three (3) years of clinical experience in leadership, required.
• Minimum two years of management experience in a clinical area, required.

• Education requirements for all departments except NICU:
  Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, required; BSN or Bachelor’s degree in a related field, required;
  Master’s degree (MSN/MBA/MHA or related to leadership) preferred.
• Education requirements for NICU department:
  Registered CA RN with Master’s Degree in Nursing required, OR Registered CA RN with BSN and either a master’s degree in a related field or a certificate in nursing/health care administration from an accredited organization, AND at least 3 years of clinical nursing experience with at least 1 year in NICU.

• Current California RN Licensure, required.

• Current BLS certification, required (American Heart Association).
• Current ACLS certification, required where applicable (American Heart Association).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program completion (Labor & Delivery & NICU, Women’s/Newborn Services only), required.
• ACLS certification obtained within 6 months of hire (Mother Baby and L&D only).

• New hire must pass physical evaluation, urine drug screen, and pre-employment background checks before starting work.
• Salary/hourly wage range based on experience.
• Offers are contingent on successful engagement in the TCMC COVID-19 vaccination program (fully vaccinated with proof or approved deferral).
