Clinical Registered Nurse II - Telemetry RN
Tri-City Medical Center, a leading acute care public hospital in North San Diego County, is seeking a Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) at the Clinical Nurse II (CN II) level to provide high‑quality, patient‑centered telemetry care.
Position SummaryThe Telemetry RN will work autonomously in a fast‑paced environment, collaborating with interdisciplinary team members to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes while maintaining a safe and compliant care setting.
Responsibilities- Patient Care
- Monitor patients on continuous cardiac telemetry and respond to acute changes in cardiac rhythms, neurological status, and overall condition.
- Administer medications, including synchronized and non‑titrated drips, and monitor therapeutic effects.
- Develop individualized care plans for patients with cardiac, neurological, and related conditions.
- Advocate for patients, ensuring dignity, empathy, and compassionate care.
- Educate patients and families about medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
- Safety and Compliance
- Maintain a safe, clean working environment and adhere to infection control and hospital policies.
- Comply with regulatory standards (Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.) and report safety hazards.
- Participate in quality improvement efforts.
- Documentation
- Accurately document patient care, interventions, and responses in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) according to Patient Standards of Care.
- Professional Development and Leadership
- Provide preceptorship and mentorship to New Graduate Nurses, New Hires, and students.
- Engage in continuing education and unit‑based best practices.
- Serve as a resource for best practices within Telemetry and act as Relief Charge Nurse as needed.
- Emergency Preparedness
- Respond promptly to cardiac emergencies (arrhythmias, chest pain) with advanced clinical skills.
- Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in telemetry or equivalent intermediate care (required).
- Alternative: 2 years’ experience in an acute care or equivalent setting (required).
- Post‑procedure care (post‑cardiac catheterization, pacemaker insertion, 24‑hour post CABG, Watchmen procedures).
- Proficiency in ECG/EKG interpretation, arrhythmia recognition, and management.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment requiring quick decision making and strong teamwork.
- Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with five (5) years’ experience as a registered nurse in telemetry or equivalent (required).
- Licensure
- Current California RN License (required).
- Certifications
- BLS;
American Heart Association Healthcare Provider (required). - ACLS;
American Heart Association Healthcare Provider (required). - NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) (required).
- ONS Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate (required for Progressive Care Unit).
- Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) or Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN Adult), or equivalent (preferred).

- All new hires must pass a physical evaluation, urine drug screen, and pre‑employment background checks.
- Salary will be based on experience and internal equity.
