Position Summary

The Outpatient Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) at the Clinical Nurse II (CN II) level is a vital part of the Outpatient team, responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. This individual has the primary responsibility for providing clinical services for outpatient infusion programs in the off-site infusion center. This role requires advanced competencies, specialized certifications, and a strong ability to function autonomously while collaborating with interdisciplinary team members to ensure patient safety and optimal patient outcomes.

Position Responsibilities
  • Patient Care:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify patient needs and develop individualized care plans.

  • Administer medications, perform treatments, and monitor patient responses, intervening as needed.

  • Coordinate with the healthcare team to deliver safe, efficient, and timely care.

  • Act as a patient advocate, ensuring dignity and confidentiality.

  • Demonstrate empathy and compassion for patient experience.

  • Provide education to patients and families about medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle modifications.

  • Advocate for evidence-based practices for outpatient infusions.

  • Safety and Compliance:

  • Maintain a safe, clean working environment, adhering to infection control and hospital policies.

  • Comply with regulatory standards (e.g., The Joint Commission, OSHA).

  • Identify and report safety concerns proactively.

  • Assists in implementing health promotion and safety programs as appropriate.

  • Documentation:

  • Accurately document patient care, interventions and responses in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) according to Patient Standards of Care.

  • Professional Development and Leadership:

  • Provide preceptorship and mentorship to New Graduate Nurses, New Hires, and students, supporting their professional development.

  • Participate in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Assists in the assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical services.

  • Development and evaluation of clinical policies and procedures, forms, and medical records.

  • Serve as a resource for best practices in an Outpatient Infusion Center

  • Act as Relief Charge Nurse/Lead as needed.

  • Emergency Preparedness:

  • Respond promptly to patient emergencies

Qualifications

Qualifications RN

Experience:

  • Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an Outpatient Infusion Center, Oncology Unit or equivalent setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse patient caseload with common medical and surgical conditions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment requiring quick decision making and strong teamwork.
