Sr Associate Scientist, Pivotal Biologics Analytical Operations
At a future date, this position will relocate to the Gilead corporate HQ in Foster City, CA
Job Responsibilities- Oversee daily operations of the laboratory, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and protocols.
- Assist in the purchasing of new laboratory equipment, materials, and reagents, ensuring that the laboratory is well‑equipped to meet research and operational needs.
- Manage inventory and procurement processes to maintain adequate supplies and resources for laboratory activities.
- Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Develop and implement laboratory policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Manage and mentor laboratory staff, providing training and development opportunities.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the laboratory’s data infrastructure, ensuring accurate and efficient data collection, storage, and analysis.
- Collaborate with IT to integrate analytical data into broader data science initiatives, supporting advanced data analysis and decision‑making processes.
- Coordinate and supervise laboratory techniques such as HPLC/UPLC, CE‑SDS, cIEF, LC‑MS, and other techniques commonly used for biologics.
- Present findings to cross‑functional internal and external teams.
- Contribute to analytical test methods, study protocols, technical reports, and regulatory filings.
- Facilitate cross‑site collaboration by coordinating with other Gilead laboratories and external partners to ensure alignment and consistency in analytical methods and practices.
- Participate in cross‑site meetings and projects to share knowledge, resources, and best practices.
- MS degree with at least 3 years of relevant industry experience or BS degree with at least 5 years relevant industry experience.
- Proven experience in managing laboratory operations and staff.
- Excellent technical communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Understands the analytical life cycle concepts as applied to analytical development.
- Familiar with FDA and ICH guidelines relating to analytical procedure development and validation.
- Demonstrated skills in analytical instrumentation and data analysis (e.g., HPLC, CE, cIEF).
- Must think critically and creatively, determine appropriate resources for resolution of problems, and have strong organizational and planning skills.
