Summary

The registered nurse (RN, RN II, RN III) performs professional nursing activities in the care of patients so they may achieve or regain, and then maintain, maximum physical, emotional or social functions. Role functions are governed by the Nurse Practice Act, the Administrative Code (in the state of employment), as well as the professional standards for nursing practice, and the corresponding policies and procedures of Rogers Memorial Hospital (Rogers).

The registered nurse seeks consultation with other members of the health team as the patient s condition and treatment goals warrant. He/She, in conjunction with the Patient Accounts department, provides patient information to ensure compliance with federal and state statutes.

Schedule & Shifts
  • 24-32 hours per week core FTE
  • Pool (minimum of 8-shifts per month, 3 of those being weekend shifts)

Shifts Available: AM, PM and NOC shifts available!

  • AM: (7am-3:30pm) OR (7:00am-7:30pm)
  • PM: (3:00pm-11:30pm) OR (11:00am-11:30pm / 3:00pm-3:00am)
  • NOC: (11:00pm-7:30am) OR (7:00pm-7:30am)
Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Complete initial assessments and documents as required.
  • Collect, record, and analyze, within prescribed timeframe, pertinent data for admission assessment according to Hospital policy, including: patient strengths and limitations; cultural, spiritual, and ethnic factors; discharge needs; medical/physical status; medication history and current schedule; age-specific data.
  • Involve patient s support systems in assessment and documentation.
  • Act as an advocate for patients: explain rights, obtain signatures on consents, protect privacy, assist in orientation.
  • Initiate and update treatment plan and documentation; participate in planning and modifying the plan of care; evaluate data and participate in care conferences; develop and interpret plan with patient/family.
  • Identify, interpret, and document information in nursing interview, observation, physical assessment and diagnostic data; confer with other health care professionals as appropriate; review lab data; assess fall risk; identify self-abuse or suicidality; develop age-appropriate interventions.
  • Implement patient care: safe medication administration; accurate documentation; educate patients about medications; monitor for adverse effects and interactions.
  • Identify health education needs prior to discharge and implement teaching interventions; document and organize patient care activities; ensure EMTALA compliance where required; adhere to nursing and hospital standards; maintain safety and infection control practices; participate in continuing education and in-service programs; attend required in-services; participate in Performance Improvement.
  • Assist in development and implementation of unit standards of care; participate in unit committees or projects; lead projects when appropriate.
  • Carry out leadership functions: coordinate unit activities; manage admissions; communicate unit status; supervise and delegate tasks to staff; maintain primary caseload; provide acuity data for billing.
  • Participate in projects and continuing education; develop professional goals; seek extra tasks as needed; promote department goals and hospital mission.
  • Demonstrate compliance with Joint Commission and regulatory standards; participate in hospital committees and PI activities; conduct self professionally and ethically; support staffing changes as needed and be willing to reassign.
Education/Training Requirements
  • Bachelor s degree in nursing (BSN) preferred. RN license in good standing in the state of employment.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification, or obtain within 30 days of hire; bi-annual recertification.
  • Formal training in management of the aggressive patient within 60 days of hire; annual recertification.
  • Previous psychiatric experience with children, adolescents and adults preferred.
  • May be required to hold QMP designation; competency evaluated annually.
  • Employees at Child/Adolescent Day Treatment programs licensed under HFS 40 must have psychiatric nursing training or 1 year of clinical experience with these children.
