Engineering Manager / Engineering Team Leader Heavy-Metal Fabrication and Assembly

Are you ready to lead a dynamic team in driving innovation and excellence in a growing heavy‑metal fabrication and assembly‑oriented manufacturing setting? As the Engineering Manager at my client, you’ll play a hands‑on role in designing and developing cutting‑edge products, manufacturing equipment, and testing systems in a plant that delivers heavy fabrications to customers. Collaborating across departments such as Operations, Procurement, Quality Assurance, and Field Service, you’ll ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with unmatched quality.

This role is perfect for a leader with a passion for driving technical solutions and empowering high‑performing teams in a fast‑paced environment that does metal fabrication, welding, painting and assembly processes.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Leading and mentoring a team of design and manufacturing engineers with clear performance goals and deliverables.
  • Designing manufacturing solutions, including jigs, fixtures, and materials handling aids as needed.
  • Driving ongoing process improvements in the shop using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Supporting capital improvement projects and cost estimation activities.
  • Ensuring compliance with ASME, NFPA, and UL standards during the product development phase.
  • Collaborating on business cases for new project development and execution.
About You
  • Be able to do the job as described.
  • Bachelor’s degree Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with in a heavy metal fabrication manufacturing environment.
  • Skilled in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Proven success in developing processes and leading/managing teams effectively.
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills to drive collaboration across teams.
  • Proficient in planning, project management, and influencing outcomes without direct authority.
