Environmental, Health and Safety Manager – Odessa, TX
Veolia Water Tech is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety Manager to join our team in the Odessa, TX area. In this role, you will lead environmental programs, communicate business goals, and maintain compliance with all applicable OSHA, EPA, and state/local regulations while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Initiate and influence integration of EHS policies and practices into the business.
- Lead compliance with all EHS requirements including air permitting, wastewater permitting, hazardous waste, and other regulatory mandates.
- Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, occupational diseases, near‑misses, and environmental incidents to determine root causes and implement preventive measures.
- Maintain and improve EHS education programs and conduct training on environmental and safety laws, hazard monitoring, and use of protective equipment.
- Review engineered systems during design with an EHS mindset; provide recommendations for process safety.
- Support capital project design and implementation by acting as an EHS subject‑matter expert and managing contractor EHS performance.
- Organize emergency response drills, conduct safety observations, and issue work permits.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and measure progress toward corporate EHS objectives.
- Proven experience in EHS program development and implementation in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of regulations (OSHA, EPA, state permitting) and experience with air, wastewater, and hazardous waste permitting.
- Excellent root‑cause analysis skills using methods such as FMEA, Bowtie, HAZOP, and other tools.
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross‑functional teams and lead without authority.
- Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Leadership experience coaching staff on safety conversations and risk mitigation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene or a related field.
- Minimum 5–10 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Certifications such as CHMM, CSP, CIH, QISP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Ability to perform physical duties such as lifting, climbing, and working at elevated heights.
- Experience working in confined spaces and in industrial environments.
- On‑call status for emergency response is required.
