Overview
Field Telecommunications tech needed to support Pipeline Operations, Terminals and associated company assets. Travel is required; based in Odessa, TX with a company vehicle provided for travel.
Responsibilities- Maintenance and installation of telecommunications equipment in Carlsbad, NM, and various telecommunication sites in the area and/or district. Equipment may include Microwave Radios, Industrial Wireless Systems, SCADA Communication Systems, VSAT, CDMA, Phone Systems, Digital Multiplexer, Office Networks (LAN/WAN), VHF Radio Systems, and related equipment.
- Apply problem solving skills to isolate outages and restore services; document resolutions in a ticketing system.
- Interface regularly with a wide variety of people, including employees, management, vendors, and customers, with tact and professionalism.
- Plan daily work for optimum efficiency and operate with limited supervision; carry a company-provided cell phone and be available during working and non-working hours.
- Callouts and unscheduled overtime are required and anticipated; may be required to work non-traditional hours.
- Maintain safety of personnel, company assets, and the public; maintain regular attendance and high performance.
- Write effectively and communicate verbally and in writing (including email); speak clearly on internal and external calls.
- High school diploma.
- Associates Degree in Electronics Technology; a BS in Technology or Engineering is a plus.
- Minimum of four years in electronic technology or telecommunications, or an equivalent degree substitute (three years of direct telecommunications experience for Level II Tech and higher).
- Solid training in electronics or thorough understanding of telecommunications via work experience.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (for travel).
- Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) is required or obtainable to perform job functions.
- Strong diagnostic skills and logical problem-solving for telecommunications issues.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio).
- Strong written and verbal communication; attention to documentation.
- Excellent customer service; ability to work with all levels of management, staff, and external customers.
- Ability to work in a team, follow directions, meet deadlines, and perform with minimal supervision.
- Analytical abilities to resolve simple to complex telecommunications problems and support emergency operations.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, maintain confidentiality, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude, adaptability to change, and self-motivation.
- Ability to perform all essential functions of the job.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, occasionally handling items waist-high.
