POC Lead Lab Technologist

Position Summary

The Point of Care (POC) Lead Lab Technologist assists in the oversight of day-to-day operations of the Laboratory Point of Care Section while performing as a Medical Technologist. They support the department supervisor/coordinator with reports, supplies, budgets, procedures, test development, training, liaison services, regulatory compliance, resolution of POC testing issues, operator competencies, proficiency sample distribution, quality control and QA.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
• Preferred Certification: MT (ASCP), MT (AMT), MLT (ASCP), MLT (AMT) or equivalent.
• CLIA Requirements: Minimum: must meet CLIA education requirements for general supervision for high complexity testing. Preferred: meet CLIA education requirements for technical consultant for moderate complexity testing.
• Training and
  
  Experience:
  
  Minimum of three (2) years’ experience in clinical laboratory to include Hematology and Chemistry and/or i-STAT testing.
• Job Knowledge: Thorough understanding of Clinical Laboratory Procedures.
• Computer
  
  Skills:
  
  Sufficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel to create, modify, and manipulate spreadsheets and pivot tables.

• Requires ability to lift and move boxes of supplies weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Job requires extended periods of standing, walking, and use of stairway.
• Job involves exposure to biohazardous materials, chemicals, and potential infectious diseases.
