Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Wound Care Nurse, the Patient Care Technician will assist in patient monitoring, patient care, clerical & receptionist duties, and unit coordination. Direct patient care is performed under the direction of the RN and within the scope of delegated nursing practice. The technician will also perform other assigned duties for which they have been specifically trained.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Listed with the Texas Department of Health Nurse Aid Registry and Certified Phlebotomist, or one of the following:
- EMT or Paramedic training.
- Medical Assistant.
- Completion of second semester Nursing RN program.
- Must successfully complete computer training and pass a phlebotomy test with a score of 80% or better. Knowledge of medical and technical terminology and hospital policies and procedures. Completion within 1 year of hire.
- Heavy lifting.
- Constant walking, standing, and sitting.
- Exposure to infectious diseases.
- Working under stress.
- Varied working hours and shifts.
