Position Summary
The Laboratory Technologist analyzes blood and body fluids as a diagnostic aid to physicians by producing accurate and precise test results. The role includes training students and new employees, accurately entering test results into the LIS, and communicating effectively throughout the hospital.
QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution, or MT (HEW) certification.
Required Certification: MT (ASCP), MT (AMT), MLS(ASCP) or equivalent. Must meet CLIA education requirements for high complexity testing.
B. Job Knowledge: Thorough understanding of Clinical Laboratory Procedures.
Unusual Physical Demands And Working Conditions- Ability to lift and move boxes of supplies weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Extended periods of standing, walking, and use of stairways.
- Exposure to biohazardous materials, chemicals, and potential infectious diseases.
