An ICU/CCU nurse provides critical care to patients with severe conditions, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, performing advanced life support interventions, and collaborating with physicians to develop individualized treatment plans, focusing on critical cardiac patients within an intensive care unit setting.
Responsibilities- Continuously monitor vital signs such as heart rhythm (ECG), blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, identifying and responding quickly to changes in patient condition.
- Precisely administer complex cardiac medications, including emergency medications like antiarrhythmics and vasopressors, according to physician orders.
- Perform advanced cardiac life support procedures such as CPR, defibrillation, and pacemaker insertion in emergency situations.
- Interpret and manage invasive hemodynamic monitoring data such as central venous pressure (CVP) and pulmonary artery pressure.
- Educate patients and their families about their heart condition, treatment plan, and self‑care measures.
- Provide emotional support to patients and families facing critical cardiac situations.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum 1 year of ICU/CCU experience required.
- Ability to rapidly assess patient situations, interpret complex data, and make timely clinical decisions.
- Expertise in cardiac monitoring, advanced life support techniques, and medication administration.

Odessa Regional Medical Center was founded in 1975 as Odessa Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Through the years, the hospital grew and evolved into a full-service healthcare facility and the name was changed to Odessa Regional Medical Center to reflect its larger campus and more comprehensive services.
