Overview
Registered Nurse - PACU (PRN) role at Odessa Regional Medical Center. As an PACU Registered Nurse, you will care for patients recovering from anesthesia and surgery in a Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). Monitor patients' vital signs, assess their consciousness, and manage pain and nausea. Communicate with patients and their families about post-operative care.
Responsibilities- Check blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, and temperature
- Check the patient's level of consciousness and orientation
- Administer medications to treat pain and nausea
- Look for signs of bleeding, low blood pressure, or arrhythmias
- Dress wounds and assess drains
- Teach patients and their families about post-operative care
- Update surgeons and anesthesiologists on the patient's condition
- Transfer patients to the next destination, usually within a few hours
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- PALS preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience required
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care
