Corr Health is looking for a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) to support inmate care in Midland, TX. The role is a key part of our correctional healthcare team, working under RN supervision.
Position OverviewA Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse is responsible for assisting in the delivery of inmate care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Under the supervision of the RN(s), directs and guides inmate teaching and activities that commensurate with the provider’s education and demonstrated competencies.
EssentialJob Duties
- Assist in assessing the physical, psychological, and social dimensions of inmates in the Health Care Unit and, as necessary, in housing units.
- Assist in planning and implementing individual treatment programs, using available knowledge, diagnostic tests, resources, and consulting with RNs and other staff as appropriate.
- Administer medications according to proper techniques and procedures, including IV therapy (when certified). All approved routes of administration are considered.
- Assist the provider in evaluations, medical procedures, and minor surgical procedures as necessary, using SOAP charting.
- Obtain body fluid specimens and perform EKGs using proper techniques.
- Maintain and document controlled substances and medical equipment.
- Intervene in a variety of situations with proper safety techniques, procedures, and standard precautions.
- Implement nutrition and therapeutic diet plans through proper techniques as ordered by provider.
- Triaging and assessing healthcare requests.
Midland, TX — 36‑48 hour rotation, 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Minimum Education /Experience Requirements- Graduate from an accredited LPN/LVN program.
- Maintain current licensure as an LPN/LVN within the state of employment.

- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Current TB test within one year.
- Adhere to all facility policies and procedures.
- Willing to assist coworkers and work overtime if required.
- Maintain confidentiality, dignity, and security of health records and protected health information per HIPAA.
- Undergo security training and orientation on facility safety policies and procedures.
- Remain stationary and move throughout the facility, including up and down stairs.
- Position oneself in different spaces.
- Communicate accurately and effectively with patients.
- Identify and assess objects and situations from various distances.
- Remain calm in stressful and demanding situations.
- Frequently transport objects up to 50 pounds.
Work is performed inside a correctional facility. Employees are exposed to some level of risk, including exposure to blood‑borne pathogens. Employees must comply with all security rules and regulations to minimize risk to themselves and others.
