Veterinary Technician, Full-Time

Care Vet University Animal Clinic, 2801 John Ben Shepperd Pkwy, Odessa, TX

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Check patient medical records for past histories, enter into computer and file.
  • Takes medical histories and vital signs of patients.
  • Maintains client educational material in an efficient manner.
  • Admits and discharges patients.
  • Takes, processes and logs prescription refills in-house, call out pharmacy and online pharmacy.
  • Perform laboratory tests (ear cytologies, fecals, bloodwork, etc.).
  • Monitor hospital patients and log vital signs.
  • Administer medications to patients as needed.
  • Place catheters and perform blood draws.
  • Surgical prep, monitoring, and patient recovery.
  • Perform dental procedures.
  • Restrain and assist the doctor during exams, treatments, and anesthesia procedures.
  • Take x-rays.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, stoop, bend, and stand on feet for long periods.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The employee must be able to multi-task. We are looking for a full‑time team member who is able to work weekends on a rotating schedule and has excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Education / Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Registered Veterinary Technicians in Texas are preferred, not necessarily required. We are open and willing to train the right candidate.
