General
Summary:
Works under the direct supervision of the student patrol coordinator (OCPD Patrol Sergeant) with direction from the on‑duty OCPD Officer.
- Patrol a designated area of the campus on foot. Report any suspicious activity or emergency circumstances which may require police or medical intervention.
- Observe and report issues that could cause safety concerns around campus.
- Conduct walking escorts when requested by students, faculty, staff, or community members.
- Assist police at major events with pedestrian traffic and patrol, including sporting events, graduation, and other events during the school year.
- Know the policies and procedures in the student patrol manual, applicable sections of OCPD general orders, and applicable state law, Odessa College Board Policy, and student code of conduct.
- Must be an Odessa College student.
- Knowledge of the Odessa College campus geography.
- Ability to verbally communicate effectively during normal and stressful situations.
- Ability to communicate in written form.
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions supplied by the Odessa College Police Department.
- Ability to use a police radio and communicate with the same effectively.
- Must be able to pass a background investigation and maintain confidentiality regarding protected/sensitive information.
