Floor Hand – Axis Energy Services (Odessa, TX)

The Floor Hand position is part of a 4–5-person workover rig crew on a well service rig. Responsibilities include assisting in rigging up/down, pulling, laying down rods, tubing, casing, and performing other tasks as directed by the Rig Supervisor. All duties prioritize crew safety and meet customer expectations.

• Report to the assigned Work-over Rig Supervisor.
• Assist the operator in rigging up and down and aligning the rig with the well.
• Set hydraulic jacks, handle pads/boards, and aid in attaching guy wires to anchors.
• Operate rig tools (rod wrenches, tongs, elevators, etc.) during servicing operations.
• Pick up or lay down tubing, manually lift tubing from the rack onto the work floor.
• Maintain tubing, rod tongs, and hand tools on the rig.
• Dismantle and repair oil field machinery using hand and power tools.
• Clean up spills and keep pipe deck and main deck areas orderly.
• Report safety hazards, incidents, or maintenance issues to the Rig Supervisor.
• Ensure work follows company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Climb ladders and stairs, lift up to 75 lbs, and stand for long periods.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
• Basic oil‑field well servicing experience.
• Minimum one year rig floor operation experience.
• Valid state‑issued driver’s license with acceptable MVR.
• Effective verbal and written communication in English.
• Ability to work a varied rotational schedule and travel as required.
• Work may be performed in all weather conditions.
• Mobility to enter confined spaces and use ladders or other access devices; ability to bend, stoop, twist, stand, squat, crawl, walk.
• Lift to 75 lbs and tolerate long periods of standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching.
• Wear protective equipment, including H2S respirator where required.
• Team‑oriented, able to work fast‑paced and handle multiple tasks.
• Basic problem‑solving and organization skills.
• Reliable phone communication and transportation.
• Clear pre‑employment drug/alcohol and job‑relevant security screens.
