Truck Driver --Thrift Store Department

Job Summary: Assists the Truck Driver in loading and unloading routine pickups and/or deliveries of material to serve production needs of the store and/or general operation of the corps.
Essential Functions: This job description identifies the essential functions and requirements of this position, and the incumbent may be requested to perform other job‑related responsibilities and tasks.
Donations Pick‑Ups and Deliveries Responsibilities (100%)- Assists the Truck Driver in lifting and stacking donations in the truck and in unloading/loading the truck.
- Prepares donation receipts for customers; ensures accuracy and completeness.
- Maintains good relationships with donors to promote a favorable image of The Salvation Army.
- Places and arranges furniture, appliances, books, or other heavy items in the store as directed.
- Inspects donated items briefly to ensure they can be used according to established policies; explains policy to customers regarding the types of items accepted.
- Assists in cleaning and maintaining the warehouse and loading dock area; picks up trash and debris surrounding the grounds as requested.
- Assists with placing items in the store as needed.
- Assists customers in carrying purchased/donated items in/out of the store.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Salvation Army Trucks.
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co‑workers.
- Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.
- Education and Experience: High School or G.E.D. preferred but not required; prior experience driving a box truck preferred; or any equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Certifications: Valid State Driver’s License (preferred).
- Physical Requirements: Ability to meet attendance requirements; read, write, and communicate effectively in English; perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing; frequent periods of physical mobility including standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, and lifting up to 100 lbs; duties may be relieved by brief or occasional sitting.
- Working Conditions: Daily vehicle operation with exposure to outdoors, including weather changes such as rain, cold, snow, heat, and noise, dust, dirt, and other environmental factors.
